Bonniers Konsthall café 2021
The new café is the result of a rearrangement of the entire entrance-bookshop-café space into a new more fluid sequence of rooms. Two elements, a wooden box for the kitchen and a free-standing wall support the original spatial logic of Bonniers Konsthall, where internal movement is guided along the completely glazed facades. The addition of a ceiling grid made of the Alma pendant lamp (Tham & Videgård’s design for Wästberg) underscores the impression of one coherent space that is open through the building’s cross section with long views to Kungsholmen in the south and inviting the greenery of the Vasaparken parc. The choice of solid ash wood complements the building’s restrained material palette of exposed concrete, aluminium and glass. The communal wooden tables and benches are custom made to Tham & Videgård’s design.
