The Gasworks district 2015-2027

Tham & Videgård work on the ongoing urban development of the former Gasworks district in Stockholm. The project encompasses both restauration and refurbishment of existing industrial structures as well as construction of new buildings to establish a new regional center for the northern part of Stockholm city, Norra Djurgårdsstaden. When completed the new Gasworks neighborhood will offer a complete and diverse urban environment with public plazas and parks, communal spaces, restaurants, services, shops, offices and housing. As many of the original protected structures, designed by Ferdinad Boberg towards the end of the 19th century, are characterized by well crafted red brick architecture, the new buildings are proposed within the same colour scheme using brick, pigmented concrete and corten steel. All constructions will comply with the highest Swedish environmental and energy efficiency standards. Total 52.500 sqm excl. underground parking and services. Clients: CA Fastigheter and Åke Sundvall.
